MLOps and LLMOps without the hype
2 September 2026
Discover, build, run and improve with governance across the whole lifecycle, not only the model card.
MLOps and LLMOps labels multiply faster than operating habits. The useful question is whether discover, build, run and improve are owned across strategy, data, architecture, evaluation, security, compliance, adoption and FinOps.
Governance across that lifecycle is not a gate at the end. It is evidence and decisions at each stage. Evaluation before wide release. Monitoring after. Adoption measures beside accuracy metrics.
Microsoft estates often mix classical ML, Copilot scenarios and agents. One toolchain will not cover all of it. A shared cadence and scorecard can. That is where Kiniza focuses.
Pilot-to-production discipline matters more than tooling fashion. A pilot needs exit criteria. Production needs owners, rollback, cost controls and a path to improve. If those are missing, pause the next pilot.
Data readiness remains the quiet blocker. Policies, quality and access paths decide whether a clever prompt becomes a reliable service. Estate reviews that skip data only postpone failure.
Security and compliance controls should be visible to executives in plain language. Control existence is not control effectiveness. Evidence of closure beats screenshots of portals.
LLMOps adds evaluation of groundedness, toxicity and drift where relevant. Keep measures proportionate to risk. Not every internal summariser needs a research-grade eval suite on day one.
Build work belongs on specialist days or projects with acceptance criteria. Run work belongs in Operate. Confusing the two creates either unpaid delivery or unmanaged production.
Continuous improvement is a quarterly conversation as much as a pipeline stage. Strategy reviews should retire weak use cases as readily as they fund new ones.
If your lifecycle diagram is beautiful and your action register is empty, start with the register. Kiniza will meet you there.
Practical next steps stay person-driven. Book a free briefing at hello@kiniza.co.uk if you want a working session on how direction, plans and tasks connect in your estate.
