Join licence and capability assessments

6 September 2026

Seats without skills create shelfware. Skills without seats create frustration. Assess both together.

Licence assessments that ignore capability produce neat spreadsheets and poor outcomes. Capability programmes that ignore licences train people for tools they cannot access. Join them.

Start with role design. Which work is permitted. Which Copilot or agent features are required. Which data boundaries apply. Licences follow roles, not the other way round.

Assignment data tells you who has a seat. Adoption and learning data tell you whether the seat means something. Both belong on the scorecard.

Cost optimisation often begins with reclaiming unused assignments. Do that carefully. Some unused seats are waiting on a planned wave. Coordinate with adoption owners.

Capability transfer is measured in work applied, not course completions. Spaced practice, scenarios and feedback support each wave. Specialist Learn days design that reinforcement.

Enterprise agreements and add-ons change. Roadmap items can alter what a licence includes. Track Microsoft Release Communications when renewals approach.

Azure AI consumption sits beside Microsoft 365 licensing. A complete assessment includes both where the estate does. FinOps joins the conversation early.

Assess and Estate Review engagements are the clean entry points when the picture is unclear. Establish then Operate if you need the ongoing loop.

Boards ask whether investment is defensible. A joined licence and capability view is one of the shortest honest answers you can give.

Bring your assignment export and your adoption questions to a briefing. We will help you read them together.

Practical next steps stay person-driven. Book a free briefing at hello@kiniza.co.uk if you want a working session on how direction, plans and tasks connect in your estate.
