Adoption waves that stick

8 September 2026

One active wave, spaced practice and measures of transfer beat a single launch event.

Adoption fails when it is treated as a go-live date. Waves treat adoption as a sequence of equipped cohorts with clear success measures and time to practise.

Keep one active wave in standard scope. Parallel waves without owners recreate confusion. Expand only when the loop closes.

Spaced learning beats intensive launch weeks. Short practice, feedback and work-based application help capability transfer into daily tasks.

Guardrails must be teachable. If people cannot tell what is permitted, they will either freeze or invent unsafe shortcuts. Operational scorecards should make permission visible.

Management plans name who enables the wave, which roles are included and what evidence counts as success. Executive direction decides whether the next wave proceeds.

Measure retained capability, not only attendance. A quiz score is weak evidence. Observed work and reduced escalations are stronger.

Copilot and agent features change. Refresh learning assets when roadmap items that affect the wave land. Stale screenshots destroy credibility.

Specialist Learn days design scenarios for a defined role. They are not generic e-learning catalogues. Tie them to the problem the wave exists to solve.

Adoption sits on the same scorecard as risk and cost. Celebrating usage while ignoring exposure or waste is incomplete leadership.

If your last launch was loud and quiet afterwards, redesign the wave. Kiniza will help you make practice stick.
